Psychic Lemon describe their sound as krautfunk — a blend of psych, krautrock, funk and a number of other genres.
The band rehearse and record in a studio in the back of a small garden, 5 minutes down the road from Syd Barrett’s old place. The band’s influences are broad, but choice artists include Goat and Amon Düül II.
As of May 2017, Psychic Lemon are recording their second album, which will be released on Tonzonen Records in the Autumn.
Psychic Lemon’s self-titled debut album was released in March 2016 on CD, and re-released on vinyl in June through Drone Rock Records, selling out all 250 copies by August. It received airplay on BBC 6 Music. It was well received in the psych community (see Press page).
All songs were recorded in 2015 in the Psychic Studio, which was built from the ground up by Andy Hibberd, bassist. All engineering, production, and mixing was done by Andy Briston, guitarist.
Psychic Lemon have played in venues across Cambridge and London, including The Islington, The Good Ship and The Portland Arms. On their live show:
“Since the release of their excellent debut CD … the sound has now evolved into sparser vocals and extended instrumentals with a remarkably full sound.”
